Ernika Merilus 

A 16 year old, sophomore, born and raised in New York, and with inspiring ideas that are expressed through ceramic artwork. Doing ceramics is the only thing that allows me to show others who I am as a person and or as an artist through my designs and pieces. ​I never knew that I would be good at what I do until a friend recommended me to try out studio ceramics as freshman and there was where I began to learn and understand ceramics, learning each day something new about glazes and sculptures which stood out me greatly. My first piece which is shown below, made it to the art show and in that moment the feeling of just having others being able to view my piece made me feel good. Due to this I decided to keep on doing ceramics that the year after I joined intermediate clay and there is where I knew I wanted to continue making clay projects throughout my high school experience.
