I’ve been doing ceramics for about three years now going on four years in my high school and it is one of the best stress free class.  I love to do what I do because it shows another side of me that people don’t get to see on a daily and my artwork speaks for myself most of the times, what I feel, and what I believe in. My goals in my ceramic classes are to not only show people what I am feeling but also see if my pieces can make other people feel some type of way and even learn something new.

When we are assigned a certain project to complete I mostly choose what I want to do based off of what the project is mainly about. For an example the project about surrealism made me want to do a negative message since in the world we live in there are so many negative things happening. When selecting materials to use it all depends on the color that we are able to use because using the red clay the colors aren’t as bright as using regular studio clay. When choosing which techniques to do it also depends on the project because projects such as teapots you can constructed it with your hands or use the wheel.

My current work this year as a junior  has been more difficult than my pieces in my previous years in ceramics. The surrealist bust that we worked on was an artwork that mostly showed the challenges that were attempted and completed.I would say that this year I mostly stepped out of my comfort zone when it came to my pieces because I would show the emotion I was trying to present. Also all my pieces are a conversation starter and that is something I enjoy about sculpting and constructing since it always makes people wonder what made me want to do that idea.
