For my surrealist bust my inspiration was the generation we life in today and how the corrupt society is taking over a child's innocence. The main part on my project which is the face and shoulders are resembling an ice cream cone which is suppose to show childhood innocence and the fire tongue,burned face, fingers coming out of the head which has a painted globe, and the snake all shows that the corruption of the world is taking over. For a long time now I've been mostly able to connect my pieces with society making metaphors with colors or even objects to really capture what I am trying to show. Even though there is no exact clear message from viewing my piece it is a conversation starter which will bring out how I feel, what I see from my piece, and also hearing what other people see can be interesting.

She received an MFA from George Washington University and in Washington DC and later in galleries in the US, Taiwan and Canada. The Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC, The Fuller Museum of Craft, Brockton, MA and The Cameron Art Museum, Wilmington, NC all have samples of her work in their permanent collections. Peery relocated to Asheville NC in 2015 where you can find her full time in her studio.

Since my artist loves nature I decided to make my teapot about nature. In all Laura Peery artwork, she always connects her pieces and colors back to her ideas/ symbolism. On my project the brown color and green leaves resembles a tree while the lid shows an egg. The only difference between my sculpture and the one Laura Peery makes is that my color ways are darker. Since every piece has a story, the story behind mine is new life since I have an unhatched egg on top. This was not my original idea but still had a similar concept to what I had wanted and I am glad everything came out well.
